A Thousand Desires Such

How many of the goals that we set for ourselves do we actually accomplish?
Why is it that the more we get closer to our destinations, the more our destinations increase?
Why are our desires so limitless? Sometimes I think that this has to do with the fundamental philosophy of the existence. What purpose to existence if there is no desire, nothing to live for, nothing that makes you feel better. Our mind creates these scenarios where accomplishing a certain task after spending one’s time and energy gives us a feeling of fullness. We are , in ways, programmed to have desires. Without desires, mankind wouldn’t find way to propogate through generations. At the end procreation is all but the outcome of a desire.

Life- A Storm

We can say that desires shape us. We are defined by our desires. It is naive to think that it is us that control our desires whereas the reality that exists is that we are more influenced by the desires that are there! Certain ‘Fundamental’ desires such as desire for money, fame, sex, attention control  most of the humans into performing  actions that define them as persons.

Sunset of Life

I too have a thousand desires, albeit most of them unfulfilled. I yearned , once, to fulfill them one by one. Now I have given up on them. I have given up on the temporary joyness that comes with achieving these uncontrolled desires, that grow more , the more we achieve them. For I believe these desires are not the reason we exist. If it were the case, our existence would have no consequence and it would be a big joke. I believe we are not a joke. Abstaining from there naive desires seems a logical way to live.

What then, if not the desires, should be our motive for life? That is a pretty decent question, one whose answer is to be found individually !

Signing off,
